Abstract

Yunus ibn Zubyan, a direct narrator from Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq, is often accused of lying and fabricating stories by most biographical scholars. Consequently, his hadiths are viewed with skepticism. There are 24 unique non-jurisprudential narrations from him in the four main Shia books. This study aims to validate these narrations to gain a clearer understanding of the credibility of these sources. The research is based on three criteria: the source, conformity with tradition, and the practice of specialists. The validation results show that about 80% of Yunus's narrations are found in other reliable earlier sources. About 95% of these match with other authentic narrations. Finally, when examining the practice of specialists, all of his narrations have been acknowledged by them. The aggregated data for each narration indicate that all non-jurisprudential narrations of Yunus ibn Zubyan in the four main Shia books are reliable.
