Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the content of Saduq's hadith and theological works, focusing on the rationalist components in his thought and method. Sheikh Saduq, as one of the most prominent Shiite hadith scholars and theologians in the fourth century, has tried to explain religious teachings by relying on the hadiths of the Ahl al-Bayt in his works such as Al-Tawhid, Kamal al-Din, Ilal al-Shari'a, and Ma'ani al-Akhbar. However, his approach to reason and its role in the interpretation and interpretation of religious texts has always been a matter of controversy. In this article, using the method of content analysis and a sample study of his works, the manifestations of rationalism and its possible conflicts with Saduq's hadith-oriented orientation have been examined. The findings of the research show that although Saduq apparently emphasizes the authenticity of narrations, in many positions he selects and analyzes narrations in a selective and rational manner, and in some cases he uses rational arguments to defend his principles of belief. This research shows that rationalism in Saduq's thought is not used in the form of philosophical reason, but in the framework of hadith reason and in the service of explaining religious knowledge.
